The charming city of Canela (Rio Grande do Sul) holds a natural treasure that is accessible to all: the Caracol Park. With paved trails, safe viewpoints and well-structured leisure areas, the park was designed to immerse the visitor in nature with comfort. In this setting, we can find the Caracol Waterfall, one of the most photographed landscapes in Brazil, with its 131 meters of free fall in the middle of the preserved Atlantic Forest. The grandeur of the waterfall, seen from different angles through viewpoints and trails, makes the park an unmissable destination for anyone visiting the Serra Gaúcha.
Besides the waterfall, signposted trails lead you through araucaria forests, rest areas, and historical sites, such as the former hydroelectric plant space. There is also an observation tower, a platform with a high-rise walkway, picnic areas, playgrounds and the famous panoramic viewpoint with a privileged view of the Caracol Waterfall and the valley formation.
Biodiversity is vibrant. Coatis, agoutis and dozens of species of birds roam freely through the park, which works as a green refuge in the middle of the tourist urban area of the cities of Canela and Gramado. More than a tourist spot, the Caracol Park is an opportunity to reconnect with nature, environmental education and appreciation of the natural and historical heritage of the region.
When to go
The park can be visited all year round. Spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May) provide mild weather and colorful vegetation. In the summer (December to February), temperatures are higher, and the park usually receives more tourists. In the winter (June to August), the cold mountain creates a bucolic climate, with the possibility of fog and temperatures close to zero.
How to get there
The park is located just 7 km away from the center of Canela (RS) and 10 km from Gramado, with access by the Caracol road (RS-466). It is possible to arrive by car, taxi, app transport vehicles or on tours offered by local travel agents.
