As a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, the Iguaçu National Park is a sanctuary of biodiversity and monumental beauty. With 420 thousand hectares of preserved Atlantic Forest spreading over 14 municipalities in Paraná, the territory’s immensity is organized in four visitation sectors: Waterfalls, Silva Jardim, Azul River and Iguaçu Islands. Each sector reveals a distinct facet of nature, from rushing rivers and wild trails, to scenarios of pure contemplation, allowing visitors to navigate between adventure and silence.
The main star of this experience is the Waterfalls sector, in Foz do Iguaçu, home to the largest set of falls on the planet. Elected one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, the Iguaçu Falls offer an absolute sensory spectacle. The sight of the Devil’s Throat, with its veil of permanent mist and the thunderous sound of the water, creates an atmosphere where the power of nature imposes itself, deeply marking the soul of those who witness it.
But life in the park goes far beyond the waters. The forest is a vibrant refuge for more than 2,000 species of plants and hundreds of animals, including jaguars, giant anteaters and toucans. This wealth can be experienced up close on signposted trails, boat trips, bike touring, waterfall baths and even astrotourism, with one of the most incredible skies in southern Brazil. With excellent infrastructure and a focus on sustainability, the park is a global reference in conservation, welcoming visitors in search of a genuine connection.
A place of confluence between peoples, borders and histories, the Iguaçu National Park also carries the energy of the old paths that crossed the continent. This is a transformative destination, where the grandeur of the landscape not only renews the spirit, but awakens awareness about the importance of protecting this natural treasure that belongs to all humanity.
When to go
The park can be visited all year round, but the spectacle of the waters changes according to the season. In the summer (December to March), the rains increase the flow, making the falls more powerful and abundant. In the winter (June to September) and drier seasons, the river level drops and the falls become more defined.
How to get there
The main access is through the city of Foz do Iguaçu. The international airport receives daily flights from the main Brazilian capitals and some neighbouring countries. The journey to the park can be done by taxi, app transport or urban bus.
Opening hours
Daily, including holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Entrance allowed until 3 p.m.
Entrance Fee
R$130.00 (foreign visitors) | R$117.00 (visitors from Mercosur countries) | Children up to 6 years old do not pay | Buy your ticket online or at the park’s ticket office.
The iconic Belmond Hotel das Cataratas is the only hotel inside the Iguaçu National Park. It was elected the best hotel in South America for the sixth consecutive year by Forbes Travel Guide and has Three Keys in the prestigious Michelin Guide. A unique luxury experience in the middle of nature.

The park is home to more than 800 species of butterflies, attracted by the humid climate and dense vegetation. They often accompany visitors along the park’s paths, creating a vibrant natural spectacle.
The landscape is so surreal that it seems like fiction. The Iguaçu National Park has already served as the setting for major Hollywood productions, including films of the 007, Indiana Jones and Black Panther franchises, where the Falls were used as inspiration for the scenes in Wakanda.
